Feline Vaccinations

Important vaccination information for our feline friends.

Unfortunately Pet Practice, and all other veterinary practices nationwide, are facing an acute shortage of cat vaccines which has left the suppliers no alternative but to allocate stock. The stock allocation is roughly 25% of a practice’s normal uptake and is expected to be in place until the end of the year.

We will still be vaccinating kittens, who are at most risk of serious clinical disease if they are not vaccinated, in the normal fashion whilst stocks last. Those cats requiring their first annual booster can also receive this at the usual 12mth interval. Adult unvaccinated cats requiring a vaccination course will be assessed on a case by case basis taking into account the risk to that individual cat.

As a result of the shortage any cats requiring their annual booster outside of the above will be booked in closer to 15mths post the date of the previous vaccination. Vaccine immunity has been shown to be effective up to this point and is a protocol successfully implemented during previous lockdowns.

Thanks for your ongoing understanding during a bumpy year for all.
